Our Mission
At the Newton Community Educational Foundation (NCEF), we believe every child deserves opportunities that go beyond the basics. While Newton Community Schools provide an excellent education, many teachers face challenges in securing funding for innovative classroom projects.
We exist to bridge that gap—supporting programs that inspire curiosity, motivate learning, and challenge students to reach their full potential. Our purpose is simple: to provide enriched educational experiences for every child in Newton Community Schools.
Our History
Founded in October 1989 by Phillip Hintz, John McNeer, Virginia Bennett, and Emeron Dettmann, the Newton Community Educational Foundation has been a cornerstone of educational innovation for decades.
Over the past 36 years, NCEF has awarded more than $1.5 million to Newton teachers, helping bring creative and exciting ideas to life in classrooms. Our work is powered by the generosity of parents, businesses, and community members who believe in investing in education.
NCEF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. To learn more or to support our mission, please visit ncef-newton.org.
